Finley Community Endowment Fund 2011 Grant Cycle Opens

GRANTS AVAILABLE

Finley, ND – Applications are currently being accepted for the 2011 grant cycle of the Finley Community Endowment Fund.  Completed applications must be submitted by October 3, 2011 and can be dropped off at Citizen State Bank.  Applications may be picked up at Citizen State Bank or accessed online at www.ndcf.net/finley.

Eligible recipients include any 501(c)3 non-profit organization or any government entity, such as a school or park district.  In reviewing a request, Advisory Board members will consider the level of local involvement and support, the number of people to be served and the impact of the project on the community.  The Advisory Board will not fund requests for day-to-day operations.

The Finley Community Endowment Fund annually uses income generated from permanent investments to make grants to worthwhile projects.  This year, the Advisory Board has $6,860 available to grant.  The average grant size has been roughly $1,000 per grant.   As the fund grows through gifts from current and former residents, the amount of money available to grant also grows.  “When we started this fund back in 2003, we were only able to give 1 grant and it was for $358.00” said Advisory Board member Harold Fetting, “To be able to give almost $7,000 this year is quite an accomplishment”.

The Advisory Board will be hosting the first Annual Endowment Supper on November 4 to aid in this fund raising goal.  Every dollar raised, up to $10,000, will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the North Dakota Community Foundation.  The event will include a dinner, raffle and silent auction.  Details for the event will be forthcoming as the date approaches.

For more information about the Finley Community Endowment Fund, please call Harold Fetting at 543-3918 or Karla Neset at 524-1921 or see the website, www.ndcf.net/finley.
